Character Profiles
A character profile is needed so that all members have a basic understanding of who your character is, what guild your character belongs in, as well as their importance to the D’ni culture. The older your character is, the more well known they are, so it becomes critical to better understand those with higher standing.
There is no set limit, as of yet, to how many characters you would like. Creating NPC’s is also not only allowed, but encouraged! Especially interactions with needed characters for daily life (servants, random people, random guild members, ect.)
Profile Requirements:
Name: Try to refer to D’ni words to make a name. If you have translation troubles, then try something in Arabic or Hebrew, since the languages are similar. Age: The age of a D’ni is much longer. An average age is about 300-500 years. Please read Ryuu's note below to understand better how you can guess with math. Guild: There are many guilds to choose from. Check the Guild listings to see the guilds, as well as small descriptions of each. Appearance: D’ni do not look completely human. They do hold physical features that are different from us. Minus the ability to age farther than we, they have a greater than average height, slender build, fair complexion (lighter than Caucasian), and eyes described as “pale” which are extremely photosensitive. Personality: Though D’ni people can be considered very stone like when it comes to their emotions, each member does have their own personal perks. Things to avoid when thinking of personality: drinking, smoking, drug, or language problems. These actions are extremely frowned upon in D’ni culture, so it is best to leave these out. But have fun with this section. Be free to tell us all you want! History: This can be rather brief, but we encourage a well detailed history. Family history is extremely important in D’ni culture. Where you originate from is the basis of your future, and usually sons and daughters follow their parents footsteps in the guilds (mostly because it is the parents choice of which guild a child goes to at a young age.) It is best to also describe the achievements of your character in a guild. Also note: a member of any guild cannot write ages until they reach the age of maybe 50-70, and any guild member has the ability to write. Only those of the Writers guild can have several known ages written. Ages: If your character did write any Ages, please link them from the Age’s thread. Abilities / Merits: These are things your character is talented at. Is he a good hunter? Is she an inventor? Good with firearms? A world-class cook? Just plain charming? Basically give us an idea of what your guy is better at than anyone else. Flaws: Still, you can't be good at everything. Maybe you're a bit frail, or maybe you've got bad eyesight... or maybe you're just plain a jerk. What do you suck at?

Are you sure it's 20 years?! It just seems like 300 - 20 would be... yeah. they'd be so senile and decrepit by the time they reached freaking 120 years old that they'd be nigh-useless, which doesn't make sense. I think it's fact-check time.
Unless it's the fault of the creators, in which case I -still- don't like it.
If I was doing it (which I'm not) I'd take the average human lifespan and divide it by the average d'ni lifespan. Consider that the average human lifespan in the modern age thanks to medicine is 80 - 100 years. So we go:
300/80 = 3.75 (to use the low end)
300 /100 = 3
Which gives the equivalent age of 20 as 60 - 75 years of age. which to me makes more sense. ish.

I wasn't sure at all really. I took a leap of descriptions given by Anna when she looked at everyone. The only two ages you really ever knew were Aitrus and Vevios so.... hm. I do like your way better.
Of course I Do. You're the fuckin math major XD Ok. I'll make the edit. Thanks Ryuu.

I'm not being mean, I'm providing Valuable Feedback. So after the other things, I usually like to stick in: Abilities / Merits: These are things your character is talented at. Is he a good hunter? Is she an inventor? Good with firearms? A world-class cook? Just plain charming? Basically give us an idea of what your guy is better at than anyone else.Flaws: Still, you can't be good at everything. Name: Master Merth Rehkor - One who watches the book Age: 73 years Guild: A Guild Master of the Maintainers
Appearance: Due to the fact that she arrives in uniform, many people do not even know what she looks like beneath the protective covering and the breathing mask from her E. V. uniform.
Beneath the uniform, she is in fact, a female. Her height is bit below that of a normal D’ni woman of her age, her face having showed signs of aging due to the stress she places upon herself in her job. Chestnut brown hair is left layered down to her back, even though her bangs mostly remain at neck level. Light green eyes constantly shift emotions, usually being the best way to read her even though her face sometimes is made of stone. Her body is thin, somewhat fragile, and has been quoted by the Healer’s guild as “not suitable for child birth.”
Even though she may appear weaker and fragile, she would not hold back from using her strong, booming voice to beat down the masses.
Personality: Much like what is known of her family, her personality is the strongest thing about her. Being a Maintainer means that one has to not only be strong, but sometimes cold and empty to other’s emotions. It is known that when Merth set her foot down, D’ni shook and crumbled. She had no restrictions against people, and found her job to be her pride, which means she must strive for utter perfection. If an Age shows danger, even a bit, she proposes it’s fix, or removal completely, and will sometimes fight before even daring to bare the seal.
To awaken the angry beast within her usually calls for several hours of ear aches and rantings. Especially if that person happens to be a man, and then he becomes a ‘pompous pig, who is continuously thinking with the wrong head.’ With the fact that her family, having been head of the Maintainers guild for several centuries, she has no qualms of pushing that fact forward in conversation. All writers were below her power, all Age’s under her control. It wasn’t that she saw herself as God (being the most sinful of thoughts), but that she was the mother hen of the books and her people. And she would not ever let them down.
History: Descendant of Grand Master Imas, Merth has been promised for glory since birth. Though her younger brother was thought to take the place of her father, Grand Master Jetanu, he broke off from the guild he was selected from and decided to instead transfer to the Guild of Caterer’s to take a life of planting. With him being the black sheep of the family, she has been left with the responsibility to take care of the Guild of Maintainers when her father passed.
From a young age, when given her Burgundy uniform and cape, she had been obsessed with Ages. Though her father already owned two Ages - one written by himself and the family’s Age - she wanted to explore as many as she could. These included those that were examples for the Maintainers guild as bad Ages. Due for the fact that she excelled at a young age, there were three different Environmental Verification suits that had to made for her during her growing years, in order for her to explore the Ages she wished. Merth could successfully claim that by the time she hit the age of 35, she had explored every Age contained by the public libraries, her family’s Ages, and those owned by the Guild of Maintainers.
Her success in her years had brought her up the Guild chain rather quickly. Graduating at the age of 15, she became a Junior Member, and six years later, a full fledged member of the Maintainers. It was 44 years later before she was voted by the Guild Council to become a Master of the Maintainers. Though this was considered somewhat young for a Master, her success as well as her family blood constituted success at a young age. By the time she hit her 70th birthday, she could make the claim that there had not been a Great Zero in any Age that she had not visited.
Currently, being head of most expedition groups in any new Age, she spends most of her time away in Ages, making sure that each one is safe for the public. Sometimes the other guild members look down upon her for her taking an extra two or three weeks in order to claim if an Age is safe. These ages tended to receive the least amount of complaints, and has a note book twice the size of an average book for a new Age. During her free time, she rarely joins any parties, or any activities, and spends her time working on projects and the Age that has been incomplete for over 30 years.
Perfection, she claims, takes as much time as perfection needs.
Ages: Currently she neither owns, nor created any Ages.
Abilities/Merits: Her pride can all be surrounded not only in her strive for perfection. She tries her best, constantly, to do everything that she can. Her age is unfinished due to the fact that she must make every little detail perfect.
Though what she also puts her pride in is her marble creations. When growing up she had a friend from the mechanical guild, and he helped her when she was younger create small machines in which would roll marbles down tubes, around bends, a continuous cycle of entertainment. When they broke off do to their own jobs in their guilds, she continued to create them: several machines, a couple for her desks, and one settled in the front of the Maintenance guild, in which the glorious marbles of nara stone rolled around on brass pipes, scoops, and chains, in a continuous motion not set by any power or electricity, but just the motion itself. If her notebook for her Age wasn’t filled with ideas, it was filled with several drawings in which had different ideas for these machines.
Flaws: Though she will not say it, her greatest flaws, mostly stated by her father and mother, is her eyesight and her attitude. Without her glasses, she is considered completely blind and everything becomes a blob before her vision. Special goggles for her E.V. suit have to be made for her to see properly when exploring Ages. When she first made a student of the guild, she continuously would have them stolen by bullies, and has learned to resort to a tighter strap to keep from losing them.
Due to her being so picked on when she was little, helped to toughen up her exterior when she grew older. This lead to an explosive temper when she is agitated. This happens most when a Writer, who’s book has been declined, argues with her. There have been reports where she had almost struck out at people in her rage, though restrains herself better now with her higher title as Master.

Name: Eder Fenah (eh-dehr fen-ah) Age: About 85. Guild: Writer's Guild. Pretty high-rank too. Appearance: Eder would be a fairly stereotypical D'ni - pale, almost white hair, pale blue eyes, nearly white skin - save that he's a bit short, coming in at only 5'8". He keeps his hair cut fairly short, spiked up slightly, and keeps the ubiquitous goggles around his neck. Personality: Eder is fairly quiet most of the time, but he has an insatiable curiosity and a drive for absolute perfection in all things - at first this was a good thing, but of late he has become obsessive. He has a peculiar love of the sciences for a Writer, often doing his own (sometimes unauthorized) experiments in his Ages. There's a side to him which is extremely poetic, romantic, and artistic, but this is often fleeting, quickly brushed aside for obsessions. Though he tries to follow the "rules" he often feels that the strict laws of D'ni society get in the way. He'll sometimes try things in his Ages which are extremely dangerous and which the Maintainers look down upon – his favourites are floating isles much like those in his family's age. History: Eder Fenah was born the son of Garoth and Achah Fenah. He has one younger brother, Heveth (said brother is in the Linguist's Guild.) Eder's father, though also of the Writer's Guild, was a rather lax man, only writing the most barely utilitarian Ages to keep himself in the guild with privileges. The man had sense of the Craft, but not the Art, and this grated on Eder. Eder spent long hours in his great grandfather's age, Empyrean, and also many long hours in the Ages from the Great Library, and felt that his father was wasting the Art. It was thus that he resolved to practice, to outshine not only his father, but even his grandfather, in the pursuit of the Art. Eder immersed himself into his studies, to the point that he had difficulty relating to others. Still, his pursuit of the Art was admirable indeed, and he quickly rose through the ranks of the Writer's Guild. However, his slightly maverick attitude and tendency to take unnecessary risks meant that he never could quite get to the rank of Master – not that he cared. He married at the age of fifty-five to a woman who initially had been chosen by his mother, a lady of the Painter's Guild. At first, his parents were quite sure that he would be an utter failure at wooing and that the wedding would be forced (his mother had to pick the bride, after all, since he couldn't seem to find the time to do it himself), but Eder approached it with the same attitude of perfection with which he approached all things – he wrote an age for her, just for her and her alone, an age of quiet beauty, and gave it to her as a gift. Following that he showered her with affection, and the wedding was quite a success. Sadly, after their marriage, Eder fell back into his own habits and rapidly became so obsessive about the experiments he did in his Ages and with the Art that he often had no time to see his wife. When he did, he was quite the romantic, but though they lived in the same house it was as if they were miles apart. Recently, Eder has been questioning the nature of perfection itself, and whether it is possible to attain true perfection. He wonders if it would be possible to defy Yavo himself – to either link to the Age of Light, or to even become more than D'ni, to link to an age wherin might find a way to not just link to worlds, but to create worlds. This obsession could prove his ruin if he is not somehow saved...
Ages: Empyrean – owns Age of Storms – created / owns Aviaria – Created, given to Kera. MORE TO COME AS I THINK OF 'EM Abilities / Merits: Eder has a command of the Art most remarkable – his ages are quite exquisite and do exactly as he designs them in most cases. He's also quite talented in the sciences, building many peculiar devices on his ages. Further, he's capable of being extremely romantic and charming when the mood strikes him – it just doesn't strike him every often. Flaws: Eder is incredibly hard on himself. He often feels that his Ages are not quite right, that they're missing a certain something which he can't put his finger on. He's incredibly absent-minded and gets so absorbed in his work that he forgets to eat or sleep, and doesn't allow himself to relax very often.

Name: Kera Tam Age: 62 Guild: Currently member of the Artist’s Guild Appearance: Kera considers herself to be a piece of artwork along with any of her paintings. Under this philosophy she makes she to keep her appearance immaculate when in public.
Pale and slightly taller than the average D’ni, Ker’s main feature is her whitish blonde hair, which falls to her hip. Kera keeps it perfectly clean when out and about, enjoying the effect when it catches the light. She also receives compliments for her eyes, a soft lavender that hides her short traces of intelligence. Her clothes are always clean, expensive, and extremely fashionable.
In private, or “at work,” it is another matter. When she’s painting Kera wears cheap black sweaters and pants, often splattered with paint of every color. Paint also manages to get in her hair, and combined with her tendency to run her fingers through her hair when she’s thinking she often appears to have rainbow stripes in her hair. She tries to avoid appearing publicly in this state, although it’s fairly common attire at home with her friends and family.
Personality: Tam is D’ni for “fire” and it describes Kera’s personality well. Although she tries to stay cool among strangers and superiors, she’s known for her temper and emotions among her friends and family. Since she was a bit spoiled at a young age she does not understand when she cannot have her own way. But this is not to be taken as evidence she’ll just throw a tantrum. She is capable of using her emotions constructively, particularly in her artwork. Some of her most popular paintings were created under a time of “emotional upheaval” by the admittedly stoic D’ni standard.
History: Kera Tam is the daughter of Bahvahnin and Kehlanee Tam, two members of the Banker’s Guild. To those in the Major Guild, the Bankers seem like a mysterious minor Guild with strange ideas about personal property and capitalism. Kera was raised on this ideas and through this became somewhat of a materialist. Although content in their positions, the Tams could tell their oddly fiery daughter would not fit in. They recognized her artistic abilities at an early age and soon she was a part of the artist’s guild. She rose through the ranks quickly due to her talent and her beauty. Kera’s mother, seeing opportunity in her daughter’s popularity, worked with another woman to marry their children. The son, a Writer, was an ambitious perfectionist and was expected to go far in an already prominent guild.
At first Kera was suspicious of the withdrawn young man she had been set up with, but he drew her in with his unexpected sweetness and his romantic qualities. She fell in love, and during this period her art flow with calm energy. But soon enough Eder withdrew within himself again and she became frustrated, not only with her husband but with the new society she was expected to adapt into. Her strange ideas of capitalism and the intrinsic value of objects clearly grated on her new company. Her frustration made her even more temperamental, which made her even more curious in the eyes of her people.
To compensate for her troubles at home Kera has dived into her work, producing more paintings and drawings. She has even accepted heavier leadership within the guild itself, giving lessons to the young and organizing meetings. She is expected to rise to Guild Leader fairly young if she continues at her current rate.
Ages: Kera has never completed an age. Why would she bother, when Hubby is so much better at it?
Abilities / Merits: Kera is considered one of the top painters of her generation. She is also considered quite charming by those who do not know her terribly well. Among friends her wit is also appreciated. She is also a good singer, although she only sings while she works or when friends especially goad her. A combination of her background and her place as an artist make her especially open to new ideas.
Flaws: Her temper is a problem. By D'ni standards she is far too emotional. Thanks to her upbringing, she also has a great deal of difficulty understanding her husband and his company, making her domestic life difficult for both parties. She has also no writer, preferring to express herself visually. As such she has never written an Age, nor does she wish to.
