Rules!
1. The words of the mods are LAW. OBEY THEM.
The lead moderators are Ryuu (Ryuu Tenshi / admin) and Chris (Maintains Your Soul). Ryuu's better with rulez-thangs, Chris knows more about D'ni mythology. Though Giffy (nimbus1287) knows her D'ni stuff as well, Chris and Ryuu are the mods, and their word = law.
2. This game is to be kept PG-13 / E 12+ . Furthermore, that range refers mostly to violence / drugs / intense situations. There will be no sex. Heck, even kissing is discouraged.
But why?! you ask. In this case, it isn't even me being paranoid... this is because of the Myst games themselves. The games are fairly non-violent (yes, there are instances, such as Ghen shooting you, or the various things Sirrus and Achenar do, or the whole STOP! HAMMERTIME moment in Exile), and there is no sex -at all-. Atrus and Catherine don't even kiss on screen afik, though there's certainly a moment where they could have.
Not to say you can't have private OOC chats where you do all sorts of dirty things. It's just that said things should stay out of this forum or be merely implied rather than stated outright.
THERE WILL BE NO SMUT POSTED HERE, UNDERSTAND?! If you want to cyber, do it somewhere else.
While we do allow a little more violence, please don't make it gratuitous, and keep in mind that this is a Myst game - your character is probably going to be spending more time solving weird puzzles or making detailed notes on far-off worlds than s/he is going to spend fighting.
Even if you're a conniving bastard along the lines of Sirrus, or a horrible tormentor like Achenar, you're probably going to be spending more time making sure other people don't find out about your bastarding/tormenting via elaborate feints within feints than you are actually bastarding/tormenting.
3. NO GODMODING. This means YOU. that is, you may NOT determine another character's actions for them (autohitting) or have your characters be superhuman. D'ni are very, very similar to humans save for their extreme longevity and light sensitivity - they have all the same strengths and weaknesses otherwise. Keep this in mind while designing your character.
4. Procedure is Application first, then Character Profile. The Application is basically there so we can weed out idjits and people not serious about the game.
Application should be submitted by PM to BOTH myself (Ryuu Tenshi) and Chris (Maintains Your Soul).
Once accepted you may feel free to post character profiles in the Character Profiles thread.
5. The RP section is seperated into four forums: OOC, Journals, the Great Library, and IC.
Out Of Character - Out Of Character (OOC) stuff, like general game discussion, resources, profiles, etc.
Journals - First person in character journals. ONE THREAD PER CHARACTER, PLEASE. Feel free to put your profile at the top. These are your character's reflections, thoughts, and observations. Note that no one may read your Journal unless you specifically let them, or are an idiot like Ghen and leave yours lying out where some wandering Traveler can get to it (But again, that's only if you say "I leave my journal out where some idiot wandering traveler can get to it)
The Great Library - This is where we keep information on all the ages. Not all the ages are actually public - it'll be noted in the age description who wrote it and who it belongs to.
Ages have a submission procedure as well. Characters who can use the Art (most characters can but Writer's Guild folk will be doing this most often) must submit their Age idea to both myself and Chris, either by PM or in the OOC thread "Age Suggestions". If we like the idea and approve of it, one of us will then post it in the Library.
Library threads may be commented on with "notes" - first person journal-style entries by anyone who's been to the age with various discoveries and thoughts on the Age.
Yes, even highly unstable, classified, or even illegial (extant without Maintainer consent) ages can be posted in the Library, but again, not everyone will be permitted to visit them.
In Character - This is where 3rd person RP interaction threads are. Most threads will be designated by either location (ie, "The Great Hall" or "Age of Storms, Chamber 3") or event ("Ie, "Eder has a hissy fit") In the first few lines of the post, please fill out the following:
Where: Where is this event taking place?
Who: This determines who can attend the event (related to where). If anyone can show up, then say so. If only people with access to X age can show up, say that.
What: Not necessary for general location threads, but basically what's going on here?
Time: More of a general "Before X event, After Y event, same time as Z event" and really more for Event threads than general location threads.
Notes: Is there violence?
